University of Reading's English Language and Applied Linguistics Department has teamed up with the International Study and Language Centre to offer a course which combines the theory of language and English Language Teaching with the study of English itself. This course is ideal for students who have not been taught in English before. Students will achieve a high level of English language ability and will also be given the chance to study the relationship of language to multilingualism, child language development and the media. They can also take modules in Shakespeare, psycholinguistics and modern British culture.

Entry requirements

The equivalent of three A Level subjects grades A, B, B to include at least grade B in English Language, English Literature or English Language and Literature.

IELTS (or equivilent)

A score of 7 with no score less than 6.5 in any one element. Students may also enter with an IELTS score of 6.5 overall provided they attend a six-week pre-sessional English programme
